Wagga Beach is a golden, sandy bend in the Murrumbidgee River on Wiradyuri Country in Southern NSW.
In 2020, Tourism Australia's Beach Ambassador Brad Farmer controversially named it the nation's 9th Best Beach and subsequently doubled down in 2023 to declare "Wagga Beach Australia's number 1 inland beach in perpetuity".
The beach is part of the city's spectacular Riverside Precinct boasting great river access, plenty of shady spots for a picnic or barbecue, a world class outdoor event space and one of Australia's best playgrounds.
For the scoffers who expect surf with their sand, ask the locals about the 5 O'Clock Wave that draws thrill seekers to the shores each afternoon through summer.
Is it real?
You'll have to stay until 5 pm to find out!
